![]() ![]() ![]() Once her husband had passed away, Catherine took it upon herself to write a biography of him. Her son would go on to become a writer as well as a minister. ![]() ![]() This left Catherine alone, having the responsibility of caring for their son Peter John Marshall, who was nine years old at the time. Her husband suffered a heart attack in 1949 from which he ultimately passed. Unfortunately, disaster would strike again. As a result, she spent a long time getting over her illness, a period of nearly three years. At the time, there was not the current treatment available with antibiotics that there is today. She would come down with tuberculosis in 1940. There her husband worked as a pastor to the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church as well as serving as the Chaplain for the United States Senate. While there in her junior year, she met a man named Peter Marshall. Her father worked there as pastor to a Presbyterian church in the years 1924 to 1942.Ĭatherine would then go on to attend Agnes Scott College for higher studies. When she was nine years old, she grew up in Keyser, West Virginia, where she would live until finishing high school.
